Welcome to my professional space. I am Dr. MD. Salman Baig, a dedicated and passionate researcher and educator in the fields of Computer, Electronics, and Communication Engineering. My journey in this fascinating domain began in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where I was born and raised.

Early Life and Education:

My academic journey started at the International Indian School, Riyadh. I completed my 12th grade at St. Aloysius Pre-University College in Bangalore, India, in 2002. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and passion for electronics and communication, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication from HKBK College of Engineering, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), graduating in 2006.

Master’s and Doctorate Pursuit:

I continued my academic endeavors with a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Digital Communication Engineering from the esteemed Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, an autonomous institute affiliated with VTU, in 2010. This advanced study laid a solid foundation for my deep understanding of communication systems. My quest for knowledge then led me to the esteemed King Saud University, where I earned my Ph.D. in Communication Engineering in 2019 under the mentorship of Dr. Ahmed Fauzi Abas. My research focused on optical and wireless communication and deep learning, fields that are critical to the future of technology.

Professional Contributions and Research:

As an academic and researcher, I have made significant contributions to the fields of optical and wireless communication. My work has been published in prestigious journals such as “Optical and Quantum Electronics,” “Optical Engineering,” and various IEEE conferences. My research interests span spectrally efficient modulation techniques, time-domain diversity combining, channel estimation in communication systems, antenna design, and, recently, machine learning. My dedication to innovation is reflected in my numerous patents, which range from DAC transfer function compensation to digital up-converter designs and solar furnace technology.

Personal Interests and Aspirations:

Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid traveler and a football enthusiast. Traveling allows me to explore new cultures and gain fresh perspectives, enriching my life and work. Football, on the other hand, provides me with a sense of camaraderie and excitement, both on and off the field.

My ultimate goal is to leverage my knowledge and skills to contribute to society’s betterment, primarily through education. I am committed to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of engineers and researchers, fostering an environment of learning, curiosity, and innovation.
