4. Webinar on “Machine Learning: Its Applications in Engineering”
Dr.Sushma Shelke, Lead Data Analyst, ARIN International, Pune, delivered the session which is conducted through online platform Google meet and total number of registration were 720. Machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence that provides computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can change when exposed to new data.
The process of machine learning is similar to that of data mining. Both systems search through data to look for patterns. However, instead of extracting data for human comprehension as is the case in data mining applications machine learning uses that data to detect patterns in data and adjust program actions accordingly.
Example: Facebook’s News Feed uses machine learning to personalize each member’s feed. Topics Covered during the webinar are applications, Algorithms, Tools for implementation, Future of Machine Learning in Engineering and Application Demo shown in MATLAB.
Total participants were divided into Six Batches and webinar was conducted as per following schedule
Date | Morning Session | Afternoon Session |
12 May 2020 | 11.00 AM to 12.00 Noon | 3.30 PM to 4.30 PM |
13 May 2020 | 11.00 AM to 12.00 Noon | 3.30 PM to 4.30 PM |
14 May 2020 | 11.00 AM to 12.00 Noon | 3.30 PM to 4.30 PM |
5. Webinar on “Revised kVAh Billing System in Electricity Distribution Sector”
Mr. Yogendra Talware, Director & Founder, Strom Energie Pvt.Ltd. Pune, delivered the session which is conducted through online platform Google meet and total number of registration were 842. As per MERC Order in Case no. 195 of 2017 dated September 12, 2018, The Commission intends to implement kVAh billing to all HT consumer and LT consumers having load above 20 kW from 1st April, 2020. At present, Consumers are billed on Active Energy Consumption measured in kWh along with the fixed charges and other charges. The effect of reactive energy is considered through Power Factor penalty / incentive mechanism.
Penalty is levied to consumers for Power Factor below 0.90 (for Lead as well as Lag PF) and incentive is provided for P.F. above 0.95 (for Lead as well as Lag PF). In kVAh based billing, fixed/ demand charges are levied on apparent power and energy charges are levied on apparent energy. In future, energy charges will be levied based on this apparent energy consumption which eliminates requirement of charging active and reactive energy separately.
Total participants were divided into Three Batches and webinar was conducted as per following schedule.
Date | Time |
27 May 2020 | 3.30 PM to 5.00 PM |
28 May 2020 | 3.30 PM to 5.00 PM |
29 May 2020 | 3.30 PM to 5.00 PM |
